Exercise Equipment Mats

Exercise your right to a good home gym

The caliber of a gym, be it at home or a strip mall, can be measured by those riding the bikes. Look around: Certainly plenty of body types speckle the floor, but overall, you can usually assess the clientele's level of commitment and by extension the quality of the gym. Serious fit-niks don't waste their time at a second-rate gym. Further down the list in establishing gym credentials is the use of exercise equipment mats. They're still important.

The benefits of working out with exercise mats

Useful for plenty of things other than giving the aura of committed fitness junkie, exercise equipment mats are a common-sense accessory for anyone who has spent a dime on workout equipment. Obviously, they protect floors from scrapes and indentations that equipment causes. But exercise equipment mats also reduce fatigue and prevent injury thanks to a little extra shock absorption. Since they are made of rubber, mats protect equipment from dust and dirt on floors. Most exercise equipment mats are nearly indestructible, so whatever activity you enjoy will not require a replacement mat in the future.

Overpriced, but quite nice

Though we hardly endorse dumping over $100 on a premium exercise equipment mat for your home, you should always know what's out there. Designed and marketed primarily to high-end workout facilities, these exercise equipment mats generally exceed 1/2 inch in thickness and are made of recycled rubber or colored EPDM rubber pieces. To cover a rectangular area for a treadmill, for example, you'd probably pay about $130. There are also options with smaller squares that use large, interlocking tabs for covering an entire floor. But this is clearly not necessary. With the basic PVC mats you will still have an exercise room fit to be used, regardless of whether you do or not.
